Working with Dr. Gail

Naturopathic Consultations:  Dr. Gail works one-on-one with patients to support them in making positive lifestyle changes that can improve their mental, emotional and physical well-being.  She has a special interest in working with patients who suffer from mood imbalances, anxiety, and stress related conditions.

Restorative bodywork sessions.  These sessions are designed for people struggling with chronic stress, chronic or acute pain and/or illness.  During these sessions Dr. Gail incorporates her skills as both a naturopath and a massage therapist to offer you an experience of deep, therapeutic relaxation that will have lasting affects and prove to be beneficial to your health.  Incorporated in to each session Dr. Gail provides gentle, encouraging, compassionate guidance and coaching to support you in getting the most out of your session as well as suggestions for living a life with less stress, discomfort/pain and greater ease.  You will leave each session feeling less tension and pain in your body, calm, and restored, Resotrative bodywork sessions are not covered by insurance. Summer special July 1st-September 1st sessions are $65.00 (normally $80).

Dr. Gail's Workshops:

Journey to Health.  Dr. Gail devleoped this 10-week program to guide participants through a step by step process toward creating a "new and improved" version of themselves.  The program begins with a complete wholistic/consitutional one-on-one assessment for each participant.  Following the assessment there will be a one-day group retreat.  The program offers monthly one-on-one coaching and group support sessions to help participants reach their (realistic and manageable) goals.  This program is offered 3x per year.  Click here to learn more.

Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle:  This 3-part workshop series focuses on the role of diet, physical activity and restorative practices to reduce chronic inflammation in the body.  Included in this series is a 14-day anti-inflammatory diet so participants get a feel for how diet affects inflammation.  Please call for class dates and times.

When she's not at Core Dr. Gail enjoys movement of any kind including hiking, backpacking, "jwogging" (jog/walk), biking, paddleboarding, swimming, dancing, yoga, skate skiing, inline skating and gardening (to name just a few of her movement passions). She also loves to cook alongside Dr. Dan, read, learn, practice mindfulness and gratitude and to travel the globe.

Christy Lee-Engel ND, LAc

Hours:  Dr. Christy is in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-6.

Life Cultivating Life is my clinical practice of “naturopathic acupuncture,” a term I am trying out to describe my integration of 29 years of training and practice in two different but complementary models of whole-person healthcare: Naturopathic Medicine and Chinese Medicine. Both approaches have in common the aim of helping you to be healthier at every level, and to feel well, pain-free, and more at home in your own life.

I currently work with adults and teens to alleviate pain of all kinds, the effects of stress and anxiety, sleep disorders and fatigue, as well to normalize other systemic dysfunctions including digestive, lung and sinus, menstrual and other gynecological ailments.

My primary therapies are acupuncture deeply informed by naturopathic principles, and gentle ongoing coaching in healthy lifestyle choices and changes.  Secondarily, I also combine Western and classical Chinese herbal medicine with dietary and digestive support, relaxation and meditative practices, and classical homeopathy.

My aspiration as a practitioner, drawing from the "inner tradition" of Chinese medicine, is to be a vessel for "life to cultivate life": to ease suffering, foster vitality and longevity, and to support the development of wisdom.

I live in Seattle with my family, and am an enthusiastic and casual gardener, often overwhelmed by the flowering vines and lemon balm. When not at Core, I am an apprentice practitioner of dialogic and group process arts, which I regard as modalities of healing and transformation (for more information please see The Art of Hosting and about The Flow Game). I am also a fond student of Rabbi Ted Falcon (Paths to Awakening) and John Tarrant, Roshi (Pacific Zen Institute), and was the founding Director for the Center for Mind, Body, Spirit and Nature at Bastyr University.

Please come look at my new Tiny Letters experiment, where I will be sharing a variety of the inspiring resources, events and articles I happen across in the form of occasional email notes, and subscribe if you’d like to receive them directly by email:
