Gentle healing for the busy soul
CORE is a small group of friends who are passionate about being in service to the health and wellness of the community.
Core Chiropractic & Wellness was created from the desire to provide an environment that is gracious, calming, and innately healing. It’s our pleasure to provide a place of respite from the hustle and bustle of life, where you will be warmly welcomed and cared for, and from which you will leave feeling relaxed and enlivened.
We believe that kindness, good listening, therapies that are skillfully chosen and applied, and a beautiful, tranquil environment combine to effectively diminish pain, address illness, and replenish vitality.
May is National Fitness Month
The staff and providers at Core love to be active. We enjoy yoga, walking our dogs (and cats), hiking, biking, swimming (Dr. Josh likes to do triathalon's) and leading an active lifestyle.
Make physical activity a habit. Research suggests that it takes 30 days to make something a habit, and with 31 days in May its the perfect opportunity to make a commitment to being more active or challenging yourself to a new activity.
The recommend amount of time for an adult is 150-180 minutes of moderate activity a week. This may seem like alot if you are just beginning so go slow to start and strive to get 30 minutes a day. You can divide this up in to short 10 minute increments.
It's said that that if exercise were in pill form it would be the most widely prescribed medicine today. It is the one thing you can do today and feel better tomorrow.
Here are some other benefits of physical activity:
- Control your weight
- Reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease
- Reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome
- Reduce your risk of some cancers
- Strengthen your bones and muscles
- Improve your mental health and mood
- Improve your energy
- Improve sleep
- Improve your ability to do daily activities and prevent falls (if you're an older adult)
May is a great time to commit to being more active. You can get support from your team at Core, such as suggestions for injury prevention or recovery, pain reduction and sports nutrition. We have many resources to help you get started toward a more active lifestyle or achieve your fitness goals. Check in with our facebook page for frequent helpful updates this month.
